This week UK "journalist" Frank Keating published this imperial mess of an article for the fucking top-selling GUARDIAN, not just for some random pamphlet drop in the burbs. Such well-researched gems such as "New Zealand's charmless eye-rolling, tongue-squirming dance has long passed its sell-by date" and "the haka has a history but it's an inauspicious one, nothing to be proud of" makes one think maybe the English media should get to know some of the countries and cultures it has had the pleasure to colonise. Someone needs to fax this guy a copy of the Treaty cos he obviously doesn't own a computer - not one with internet access anyway. He might have found out the haka spiritually and historically pre-dates fucking rugby. (Many Pakeha and non-Maori readers have also voiced their outrage online which is pretty awesome to see).
Here is a picture of the legendary 28th Maori Batallion performing the haka in Egypt in 1941.
Just casually serving the British empire in the second world war but hey, according to Keating the haka "does nobody any favours"
