Tino Rangatiratanga

The words “Tino Rangatiratanga” were used in both the 1835 Declaration of Maori Independence and the 1840 Treaty of Waitangi to denote absolute sovereignty - the power to make and enforce laws - in Aotearoa. What few rights Maori have are slagged off by middle NZ and the media. In many areas Maori groups and land-owners are being corrupted, seduced and blurred by corporate business which will ultimately kill everything our ancestors died to protect. Being overseas always gives you an idea of where you stand contextually in the world and even though no one knows what the fuck im talking about half the time, I do.

Kia mau ki to Maoritanga
Hold fast to your Maori culture
