Policy a shadow of leaked version

Policy a shadow of leaked version
Part one of National's official health policy, released yesterday, is a weak shadow of the big plans outlined in the leaked version made public by the Government on Wednesday. Not mentioned in part one are the new-spending plans in the leaked documents, including the construction of 20 new operating theatres, training an extra 750 health workers, a health-insurance premium rebate for the elderly and a prostate cancer screening programme.

And the reason why it has been ‘left out’ is because the new 20 operating theatres will be National’s PPP’s for health, the last Health Policy announcement was with the great communicator, Tony Ryall in an embarrassing press conference over a year ago where it was revealed by the Journalists present that National’s health policy would actually remove the restrictions on Drs to charge what they like, meaning the costs of a Dr’s visit would actually go up. Neither Ryall nor John Key seemed to be aware that was the result of their policy because National are so dependent for health policy from the private health sector that it really isn’t a policy for the health of NZers, it’s policy for the health of the Private Health Industries profit margins. The press conference was such a shambles it turned out to be the LAST set press conference John Key has held in NZ in over a year now. So I suspect these ’20 new operating theatres’ will be for National’s mates in the private health industry and it will be set up in the exact private public partnership farce that is the National Party code word for privatization.
